Magical Close To My Heart Convention!

The Close To My Heart Convention this year was at the happiest place on earth ~ Disneyland. I finally have a day off of work and wanted to blog about the wonderful time that I had. Close To My Heart really knows how to treat us special, and so did Disneyland! Here are some pictures to show you just a taste of all that I saw and did.

Wonderful artwork created by both CTMH artists and talented CTMH consultants featuring new products. And yes, you are reading the display board correctly ~ CTMH has an Exclusive Cricut cartridge with over 700 different images! Such an exciting new product.

Beautiful artwork featuring the new paper called Wonderland. This is one of my favorite new paper packs with the yummy colors of Crystal Blue and Chocolate.

The Directors were invited to a special dinner and then treated to a pass to Disneyland Adventure and reserved viewing of the World of Color ~ Lights and Sounds show. This is a picture of Michelle B. and I waiting for the show to start.

Chris H. a wonderful consultant, created this display of all of the items that she created with just one key of the new Cricut ~ Art Philosophy Collection cartridge!

Snow Day Scrapbooking

What better way to spend a day snowed in than scrapbooking! I really couldn't scrapbook all day ~ I had promised my husband that I would work on the taxes for my CTMH business, but I did sneak in some time to play with the new Sweetheart paper pack!

I love the Cotton Candy, Tulip and Black colors together and the black polka dot epoxy embellishments. I need to still add my journaling ~ I have a special place for it.

No apologies for not updating my blog - just know that life at our house has changed. A wise friend has shared with me that we cannot ask for life to return to the way it was, but for us to adjust our attitude to the new life. How wise she is! We look forward to all of the new and exciting experiences in our life in 2011. I hope that this year will bring you some great experiences also.

Fall is HERE!

Fall is HERE!

It is a crisp day today and it makes me want to start cooking a pot of chili or soup. I love this time of year with the crunchy leaves in all of their beautiful colors, crisp fresh air and the smells of apple cider and warm apple pie. This is also a great time of year to take some outdoor pictures.

A couple of weeks ago I got together with some great scrapbooking friends and we created these 2 layouts using the beautiful Close To My Heart ~ Olivia paper pack. Both of the layouts were created using the new scrapbooking idea book ~ Magic. Notice the adorable envelope on the right hand page that can be used for additional pictures or hidden journaling. (p.s. I still need to add my title and journaling to the layout) If you would like a kit to make these layouts, just send me an email ~ I would be happy to order the supplies for you and provide you with the instructions.

On October 20th, we will be working with the Hooligans paper pack and creating two, 2 page layouts. Let me know if you would like to join the fun! I have openings in both the morning and the evening workshops. Kits are also available if you cannot make the date and want to create the layouts on your own. The layouts will include one for Halloween and one that can be used for birthday pictures. I hope to have the pictures posted soon.

Scrapbooking Grandpa's Rain

I love how Close To My Heart creates such beautiful layout patterns and by adding our own pictures, we can make it so special for our own scrapbook! This layout is the featured layout with the CTMH Splendor paper. It went together so well, and I love how it turned out. Of course, Natalie's reaction is the best - "me and rain" :) I plan to add the journaling on the left side of the 8 x 8 photo using vellum paper.

5 days of FUN!

Yes, the Close To My Heart convention was an awesome experience. I had such a great time catching up with all of my CTMH friends. It is hard to believe that it is over. While I didn't post too much the last few months, it was because I was prepping for teaching a class at Extravaganza - a very special teaching workshop for all of the convention attendees. My topic title was Irresistable Adorable Idea's. I will be sharing many of the ideas in my upcoming workshops.

This picture is one of the boards that I created for my class - yes, it is Natalie when she was about 6 months old.

I have missed blogging, so look for some more artwork and ideas to come soon!

Happy July and More

I hope that all of you had a very safe and Happy 4th of July. Just couldn't resist adding this picture of Natalie that I took after the parade. She really enjoyed the parade and enjoyed collecting candy, beads and seeing the fire trucks and dogs. Doesn't this popsicle look refreshing?

Passages

Thank you to all of you who have been asking about Brooke. She is home and doing great! She is gaining weight and is such a sweet baby. I got my "grandma" fix on Saturday and held her for 2 hours straight :) Big sister Natalie is so gentle with her and loves to kiss her fingers.

Even though I have not been posting lately, that doesn't mean that I have not been creating. Now, I would love to show you, but it is a secret!

Are you getting ready for your summer vacation? I hope so! With that in mind, last week at our scrapbooking workshop we worked with the Close To My Heart Passages paper pack. These are the 2 layouts that we created. I love the beautiful papers and the accents of ribbon and pewter mini medleys. Now if you could not attend but you would like to create these layouts, just let me know and I will package up the supplies for you.

In June we will be playing with the Cherry-O paper, hope you can attend. Are you out of town? I can always send a kit to you - just drop me a note.

Pretty in Pink

I took some time this afternoon to create Brooke's 1st scrapbook page. I used some pearl paint mixed with Baby Pink re-inker to color both the letters and the outside layer of paper. Isn't she just so cute with her little pink hat on?

It's A Girl!

We are grandparents of a new baby girl! Brooke Elizabeth is 5 weeks early and on oxygen, but otherwise healthy and beautiful! Now, I can stock up on pink and purple papers and I look forward to a lot more pictures to scrapbook :)

Absent with reason!

I have been absent from my blog, but with reason. As a mother of a teacher, you support their school in any way that you can. Michelle's school was having a Fine Arts Fair / Fund raiser and we came up with the idea that we could make a quilt. Well, this expanded into 3 quilts! The students from each of the three 3rd grade classes created artwork on a fabric square with fabric markers and then I stitched them together and quilted them. (The 3rd quilt is just the same only with different students artwork.) This took much more time than I had expected, but the results were great and they each brought in a lot of money for the school.

What fun it is to finish up a scrapbook layout using Close To My Hearts beautiful paper! This layout uses the "You Rock" paper pack. Stamping Workshop

This past week was 2 of my stamping workshops. Both groups have the nicest women! They inspire me, motivate me, and we always have plenty of laughter.

We created 5 different projects and I thought I would share with you 2 of the cards. The first card uses the Veranda paper with it's beautiful colors of Creme Brulee and Juniper. I used the Stamp of the Month ~ A Little Everything ~ for the word Happy, and the word Birthday comes from the set (D1386) ~ Save the Date. The design was inspired by a card that I saw in a magazine.

This second card is my version of a card that is shown on 81 of the Close To My Heart Idea book. I used the stamp set (A1102) A Posy. This adorable set is available for only $7.95!

Promise of Spring

Yes, we all need the promise of Spring! This beautiful Close To My Heart paper is called Promise of Spring and it worked great with pictures of the CTMH Leadership conference from this past July. The paper came with embellishments and a flyer with layout instructions. It is retired but I found a few packs when I was cleaning out my office. Bitty Baby

Last week I posted a layout that I was teaching at a Scrapbooking Event. After teaching the class I added my photo's to the layout. These pictures are of Natalie opening her American Girl Bitty Baby. I had more picture that I wanted to include, so I added flip flaps to the right hand page. This is a great way to add additional pictures without creating more pages! I still will add a title and journaling, but I wanted to share how fun the flip flaps are and they are so easy to add.

The ribbon circle was created by cutting a 7" piece of CTMH ribbon that has the stitching along the edge. Gather up the ribbon on the white threads from both ends and tie the threads together in a knot to form a circle.

This layout was created with the Veranda Creative Basics paper pack and it includes the ribbon! You can order this paper pack and the flip flaps anytime on my website ~ 24 / 7, you can even shop in your jammies!

Topnotch layouts with Topstitch!

Last night was my Scrapbooking workshop and we created 2, two page layouts. I love this workshop! Everyone inspires me, and I enjoy working with all of you! Have I told you lately how much I LOVE my job? This first layout included some stamping - hard to see, but if you click on the picture you will get a larger version.

This second layout was inspired by a CTMH consultant in California who is my unit. It is so great that we can all share idea's no matter where we live! Love the half circle shape and the "window" of pictures!

This last layout is my version of the layout from the flyer in the CTMH Creative kit. Such cute suede pinwheels with fun stitching.

M & M treat

What a great time I had this weekend scrapbooking with 84 women. I took this picture early Saturday morning and just a few people (Hi Nina!) had showed up for the day.

On Friday and Saturday I will be scrapbooking at the Trinity Christian College Scrapbooking Event. It is always such a great time! I will be teaching one class this year and this is the layout that we will be creating. The Veranda Creative Basics paper and ribbon are so beautiful! I added some stamped embellishments from the Authentic stamp set and I also used the new Pewter Filigree Charms - so cute!!

A whole lot of Caboodle

One Afternoon

I spent some time over the weekend scrapbooking and I want to share two of the layouts that I made with the new Close To My Heart Felicity paper. LOVE this paper! My Brothers Surprise

I have an older brother that totally surprised me this Christmas. He built me this beautiful cabinet with antique glass, wrought iron hardware and warm wood tones. He built it to store my quilts and my scrapbook albums ~ my 2 favorite hobbies.

Rich does things in a very quiet way. Last winter while my parents were in Florida he rebuilt their fireplace, added a beautiful handmade mantle and built an entertainment cabinet, repainted both their family room and their bathroom, just because he wanted to. Also he has spent a week at my sisters home in Michigan, painting and doing repairs ~ just because. He does this from the kindness of his heart, not for any other reason.

Rich, I will always treasure this wonderful gift from you.

Natalie loved her new sweater! She opened the package and pulled it out of the box and said "COAT". Brian put it on over her p.j.'s and she didn't want to take it off. It is big, but better big than small.

Knit with love

Several months ago while camping, Mindy, Michelle and I found this cute knitting store in Galena, IL. Mindy thought this sweater would be so cute on Natalie, so I bought all of the supplies and knitted this sweater. Yesterday I finished the knitting and sewed the seams together. Then it was time for the buttons and since the weather was really quite messy out, I looked thru my antique button collection and found 6 matching Mother-of-Pearl buttons that were just the right size. The sweater is all wrapped and under the tree for my special little granddaughter. Can't wait to see her open it and scrapbook the pages of her wearing it!

Moving

Monday, Don and I moved his 83 year old mother to a Retirement Home. This was a very hard decision for her ~ to let go of her home of the last 13 years, and the last place that she lived with dad. This was hard on Don and I since there are no siblings to help with the decisions, plans, and to convince her that this was the best. She had been fighting this move for the last couple of years, but with her declining health we couldn't leave her alone any longer. Now that she is moved in and has spent a full day there, she told us last night that she thinks it will be o.k. We appreciate all of the people at the home that have welcomed her, showed her around, taken her to dinner, and we feel at peace knowing that she is safe.

So, no artwork today, but now you know why.

My WHY

Why do I love Close To My Heart? Because of the people!

Not too long ago I had a garage sale to clean out some "stuff" that Michelle had decided that she didn't need anymore now that she was married. This is the first garage sale that I have had in over 17 years, usually we just bring everything to the local Thrift store. On one table I placed some of my retired wood stamps that I had been hanging on to for a long time. A nice lady stopped by and kept looking at the stamps. Her daughter lived out of state, but loved to stamp. She couldn't decide which stamps to purchase so I offered her ALL of them. We packed them up in a box and I could tell how pleased that she was. The other day I received this beautiful card in the mail from the daughter, and not only the hand made card, but also her beautiful words made my day.

Thank you Jen for making my day and thank you CTMH for introducing me to the greatest people!

Let It Snow!

I made 18 snowman refridgerator magnets for a church group function for this coming Friday. The magnets are round favor tins found in the bridal section of many craft stores.

*I stamped snowflakes on a 2" white circle and adhered the circle to the inside back of the tin.

*The snowman is from the stamp set Magical Season and he is watercolored, cut out and adhered with foam tape to the circle.

*I added a tablespoon of glitter to the tin.

*The clear top stays in place with an adhesive strip of paper stamped with snowflakes. The adhesive paper strips are included with the tins.

~I love snow and even if you don't see snow outside your windows where you live, you can have a snowman in your house!~

Gratitude

I love the set that I used on this card - Gratitude.
Gratitude is such a great word and expresses my thoughts for my family and friends. As I leave for church this morning, I will continue to think of this special word.

Instead of cleaning the house today, I scrapbooked and loved it! This is a layout with my Thanksgiving day pictures. On Thursday, we had a wonderful church service and then spent the day with family. Yes, absent from the photo's is Natalie - she woke up that morning sick and so she couldn't share the day with the whole family. Don and I did stop by and give her some extra hugs on our way home.

Grace is a beautiful paper pack! These 2 pages (along with the 2 pages I posted the other day) will be made at our upcoming scrapbooking workshop. I had these pictures on my work table and so I added them just so you can see how the layout would look with pictures. Even though the papers have more fall colors, Natalie with her little sundress and bare feet still look great! Next I will add the title and the journaling.

My Favorite Things

I love to organize. Sometimes I organize more than I create, and today I was in the organizing mood. A Close To My Heart consultant had shared an idea of stitching Memory Protectors and creating pockets that are smaller to accommodate the Rub-ons and Color Ready Alphabets. I like to use each of these products but sometimes forget about them. So I created an album for them!

I used the Notebook paper pack, Stickease and several different ribbons to make my album cover fun. For the inside I stitched up 10 Memory Protectors to make the pockets. Using the photo that I posted earlier on my blog and some additional pictures from our family camping trip I created this layout. I kept the color pallete more neutral with papers from the Grace paper pack. This is one of the layouts that we will be creating in our December scrapbooking workshop. Someone asked me last night at a workshop that since a new baby is one the way - Yes, Natalie is going to be a big sister! - would Natalie be featured in less layouts. My answer is no, I will just scrapbook all the more!

Today I am very thankful. Thankful to my father who served in the Army during the Korean war and all of our nations Veterans. I am glad that our country takes this day to recognize these special people and what they have given for us to live in this great country.

This is a easy card, but sometimes a simple card just says it all. The stamped backgrounds used the November Stamp of the Month Set and the Thanks A Bunch comes from the Thank You set.

Winter Wonderland

It's a little early for snow, but not to early to play around with this stamp set! I love the beauty of snow and the way sunshine makes it sparkle. The stamped snowflake swirl along the bottom is embossed in clear powder and shimmers just like snow. I also covered the white square with clear embossing powder. Snowflakes in any form are fun to play with - even on a card !

Happy Monday and Around The Block

Hope you had a great weekend. We got together as a family to celebrate my big brothers birthday. Rich is my only brother, but isn't it amazing that no matter how old we get we still look up to our older sibling. It was fun to sit around the table with a cup of tea (most drink coffee, but I prefer tea!) and share memories of our growing up years. So many memories.

While at the Regional Celebration we created this layout with the Twitterpatted Level 2 paper pack. Usually when I scrapbook I start with the pictures and then pick out the paper and layout pattern. This shows how versatile the Twitterpatted paper is because I love how these pictures fit this layout. The original title was Wide World, instead I used the Stickease Title box and created my own title using the CTMH Fonts CD. So easy to customize for my pictures! Today I travel to Minnesota for the Close To My Heart Regional Celebration. I look forward to the time to visit with friends, create some wonderful artwork that corp. has designed for us and learn some fun new techniques and tips. I just finished my contest entries and I thought I would share them with you.

For the layout I added embroidery floss to the Wonder - Heartfelt Die-cuts and I like how they turned out.

For the card I added rub-on's to the pewter accents. I was amazed at how easy that was!

Totally Twitterpatted

When you look at the Twitterpatted Level 2 paper pack the rich colors are mostly Chocolates and Sorbet. Don't those colors sound yummy? But also in the Twitterpatted paper pack is a beautiful piece of paper with a Sweet Leaf small circle background and a Crystal Blue accent. I wanted to do something different for our scrapbooking workshop so I added Buttercup cardstock and I really like how this layout turned out.

I love Monday's and I love FALL!

At the Trinity Christian College Scrapbooking weekend we had a class that created this layout. If the 1st page looks familiar, it is because it is shown in the Fall/Winter CTMH idea book. I added a second page using a pattern from "Reflections".

Today we woke up to cool temperatures and the leaves are changing colors, so I can take some pictures and add them to this layout. Thank you CTMH for the wonderful artwork creations.

Now hopefully you haven't thought that I disappeared - instead I have been creating and cutting paper for my workshops! Also last weekend was the scrapbooking event at the local college. We had 81 scrapbookers spend the day together! What a great time visiting with all of you.

I want to share with you one of the cards that we have been making this month with the September Stamp of the Month - Treasures. It is a beautiful stamp set with so many uses, and I love how this one turned out using the Twitterpatted paper pack (LOVE this paper pack!). Cheerios Kid

Scrapbooking is one of my favorite things to do, and especially now that I have become a grandmother and I have this wonderful little girl to take pictures of :) When my children were little I don't know if my response to them dumping their Cheerios all over the floor was to laugh and grab the camera! I have to still add my title and journaling, but I wanted to show you how cute this layout with the Animal Cookies Level 2 paper pack looked.

71 Tomatos

This picture shows me on July 31st picking my 1st tomato at around 6:30a.m. just before Don took me to the airport to head to California for the Leadership conference. Today I just finished watering my tomatoes and I picked my 71st one. Now some of you may not this this is very impressive, but I only have 2 tomato plants! We have really enjoyed eating them in our salads and on our sandwiches. I have made spaghetti sauce 3 times and frozen it for meals this coming winter.

Our scrapbooking workshop this week was so much fun! I loved working with the Back Country Level 2 paper pack along with the Dimensional Elements. These are my 2 layouts with pictures and titles. The Full of Wonder layout still needs to have the journaling added. The title on the Gaylord layout uses the new alphabet stamp set E1014 Posterboard. I also added some left over ribbon to the pages.

Tomorrow is the day I leave for Close To My Heart's Leadership Conference in Long Beach CA. I'm so excited! My daughter in law asked me to take cake decorating classes with her. This is a picture of the cake I decorated last night. I definitely need some more classes, but according to the family, it tasted great! I had frosting all over myself and now I understand why it was suggested that we bring an apron.

I have been playing in my office and this is what I came up with! I used the Bella paper pack, the CTMH 3 ring binder album and for the picture pages I used the fun new CTMH Flip Flaps. I plan to have a tab for each member of the family along with some other family fun times such as vacations, holidays, etc. I can add as many picture pages as I need behind each tab.

More Tinkerin Layouts

Last week at our scrapbooking workshop we created these 2 layouts with the Level 2 paper pack of Tinkerin. I just love this paper pack, the colors and the patterns. It amazes me that we could make these 2 layouts with one paper pack and both have such a different feel to them. I hope to put some pictures on them soon, and then I will repost the layouts.

Graduation Day! What an accomplishment - Michelle has graduated from college. Saturday was a beautiful day and we had a great time visiting with family at an open house in the evening.

Yesterday my Wishes book arrived. It is fabulous and Jeanette Lynton has outdone herself with this latest idea book. It is filled with beautiful samples and wonderful tips.

If you are a card maker, this has to be at the top of your wish list. If you are a scrapbooker, you have plenty of scraps to create some great cards.

Today I thought I would share a card that we created this month in the card workshop. I love this card, the pattern, paper, and stamps. The 3 "brads" were created by punching 1/4" dots out of cardstock and then after adhering them to the card we added liquid glass. This is a fun way to add a splash of color and not add the bulk that brads would have added. The Dutch blue stripe paper comes from the Animal Cookies paper pack.

Happy Monday!

I love Mondays. I love the fresh new start to the week. The adventure that lies ahead and the fun tasks that can be accomplished. I also love spring and all of the beauty that it brings. Every spring I look forward to the trees in full bloom outside my office window, and this year was no exception. My office just glows pink.

Tinkerin Scrapbook Layout

Natalie came to visit Grandma the other day and she found a new play spot. I happen to have the camera on the kitchen counter and I snapped these few pictures. When my order arrived with the new Tinkerin paper I knew that this paper would work great with my pictures. Love the paper and even though it may appear to be more "boy" colors, it sure worked great! I just smile when I see her cute face thru the jello mold.

It is almost time for the new Summer Idea Book to be released! When a new Idea book arrives I love to sit down with a Diet Pepsi and go thru the book page by page.

The new paper packs are beautiful and it amazes me how CTMH can always come up with so many new things. I have received a few of the new items and I look forward to "playing" the next few days. What a great scrapbooking workshop we had on Wednesday night. Natalie helped me yesterday in my office while I was putting the finishing touches on one of the layouts and she says that if you would like to send her an order she would be happy to calculate the total for you!
